EDM101 is a synthetic EDM oil for work where the surface is the point: wire EDM machines that run on oil, and the final, finest passes on a sinker. It is designed for alloy and carbon steel, aluminum and yellow metals, and works on any conductive material. It is odourless and has very low aromatic content, which makes a noticeable difference to the air around the machine.
It is made to order rather than kept in stock, so plan the purchase instead of buying on the day the tank runs low. For general sinker work from roughing to finishing, EDM601 is the universal choice.
The drum is the working size for regular use and costs about 17% less per gallon than the pail. It moves on a drum dolly, a drum truck or a forklift with a drum grab.
EDM101 cools and cleans the gap well, so debris is carried away before it causes unstable sparking, and it helps keep electrode wear down. It evaporates slowly and stays thermally stable, which means less oil lost over a shift. Its flash point, 88 °C (190 °F), is lower than EDM601's — keep the oil level above the workpiece as your machine maker specifies.
The manufacturer says EDM101 can be mixed with other oils, but does not guarantee the result. When switching to it, drain and clean the tank, or ask us before mixing. Compare both oils on the EDM oil page.
