A bar puller is located within the machine’s working zone and grips the remaining part of the bar stock after a cut. It is mounted using a tool holder or inserted into the tool turret slot. The pulling action is achieved through the movement of the turret.
Bar pullers come in various designs, but the most common are devices with spring-loaded interchangeable jaws. These jaws are set so that the distance between them is 3-5 mm smaller than the bar’s diameter. The bar puller grips the bar clamped in the chuck, after which the chuck jaws release, and the puller moves the bar along the Z-axis of the CNC lathe.
This tool is compatible with any VDI40 turret with tool slots located on the face.
How it works?
- Self-centering chuck stops
- After positioning the jaws 3-5mm less than the measure of the bar diameter, clamp the bar
- Self-centering chuck opens
- Bar puller pulls the bar with the lathe turret movement
- Self-centering chuck clamps the bar in a new position
- Bar puller releases the bar Machining continues
