EASYCUT NHO051 is a chlorine-free, low-aromatic neat honing and grinding oil with a viscosity of 5 mm²/s (ISO 5). It is used undiluted on honing machines and for fine grinding of cast iron, carbon and alloy steel and titanium alloys. Made from solvent-refined mineral oil, it cools and cleans well and keeps the stones cutting.
It is not a general cutting oil: at 5 mm²/s it is too thin to hold a film in a turning or drilling cut. For machining, see NMO121 and the other cutting oils.
More on how honing oil works, the usual problems and how to keep it in service: honing oil.
NHO051 can usually be mixed with other mineral-based honing, grinding or cutting oils of similar viscosity. Check first: a small amount of both in a clear jar for 24 hours. No separation means they can go into the machine together.

The 55-gallon drum is the working size for a honing machine in regular production, at a lower price per litre; with a 24-month shelf life there is no hurry to use it up. For a small honing unit, topping up or a trial, take the 5-gallon pail. Safe handling is covered in the SDS.
